Athletes with disability come from a range of backgrounds and sport experiences. Para-sport athletes may have an intellectual (e.g., Prader-Willi syndrome), physical (e.g., amputation, short stature, cerebral palsy, spinal cord lesion) or sensory impairment (e.g., visual impairment), or a combination of impairments. The role of the coach is to help the athlete optimize their function and adapt to the athlete’s limitations.
